"The priceless teachings of my child feeling empowered and protected."

" The Empowered Family™ is a must-have program to empower all parents and caregivers to protect and empower the children in their lives. While I have expertise in this area, I benefitted so much from being reminded and having the support to parent my child in this way. I often felt that people thought I was being difficult by requesting consent and honoring my child's body autonomy, and through the course, I was reminded that I was not being difficult there was a purpose to my parenting. That purpose is the priceless teachings of my child feeling empowered and protected. I recommend this to all parents, it should be a gift to all expectant parents to protect our most sacred gift, our children. "

"I have gained the tools to realize that I have the ability to make that come true"

"As a survivor parent, it can be overwhelming for me to think about the possibility of my child experiencing harm or even causing harm. At the very beginning of this program, I remember Rosalia leading an exercise imagining my future self in a reality in which my child had grown up to be a person who couldn’t be messed with— consent empowered, knowing their rights, and sticking up for other people’s rights. It was a truly powerful exercise. From then on, I have gained the tools to realize that I have the ability to make that come true."

"As a parent, I realize that I had healing to do around this issue as well and feel as though I received that growth in this course"

"I was feeling worried that I did not have the correct language or was not doing enough with my boys around education and protecting them from abuse. This course provided me with everything that I was searching for. Rosalia is a brilliant teacher and a space holder. I have been more conscious about giving my children prompts to help them feel more empowered in their own bodies. As a parent, I realize that I had healing to do around this issue as well and feel as though I received that growth in this course. I highly recommend CONSENTParenting™ to any parent curious about how to protect their children in this way."

"Rosalia is teaching about an uncomfortable subject in a way that destigmatizes it. These are lessons that all parents need to learn to protect and empower their kids. My confidence in myself when it comes to dealing with uncomfortable situations has skyrocketed since going through this course. I’m no longer afraid that I’m being over-protective or giving my daughters things to worry about unnecessarily. I’m empowering them to advocate for themselves and that gives me so much peace of mind. "

[ HOW THIS HELPS SURVIVORS ]

"I loved everything about this program. Not only was Rosalia professional, but she did it in a very gentle way, taking in consideration of how many survivors could get triggered, by her tone and all the resources she provides to manage potential triggers."

I’m a licensed psychologist that specializes in trauma and has been working for over 10 years with survivors of sexual-related crimes. I’ve been looking for a program just like this to recommend my clients; especially as they struggle teaching consent to their children, or even understanding what is consent, since many of them struggle with boundaries and setting them. Another aspect that I loved about Rosalia is that she walks the talk and provides the information from her experience teaching consent to her children and managing her triggers. If you’re a survivor of any sexual-related trauma, this is a must. If you’re a parent, and you want to learn simple yet effective ways to prevent your children from becoming victims of sexual abuse, then look no further. Please let your friends and family know about this great course to help increase consent-empowered children that will grow into healthy adults."

CONFIDENTLY TEACH YOUR CHILD TO BECOME CONSENT-EMPOWERED

Hi, I'm Rosalia Rivera, consent educator and child sexual abuse prevention specialist, sexual literacy advocate, 2x TEDx speaker, rape culture disruptor, Chair and co-founder of the BRAVE Movement, co-founder of the Survivors Council Canada, and the founder of CONSENTparenting™, and the host of the AboutCONSENT™ podcast. I was also recently named a Verywell 25 Mind Mental Health Champion for 2023.

I help survivor parents learn how to confidently educate their children on body safety, boundaries and consent so that they can empower their family to prevent abuse and break intergenerational cycles.

Unlike safety education programs by non-survivors that can't relate to the struggle, fears and triggers of survivor parents; I offer sensitive, sex-positive, empowering and non-fear action & implementation based how-to-course and membership with guided support.

[ WHY I AM YOUR GUIDE ]

As a mother of three young children myself, my journey started shortly before my oldest son went to his first summer day-camp, over two years ago.

At that time, my deep fears triggered anxiety and feelings of helplessness because the summer day-camp was a new place and I didn't know every single adult or teen that was supervising all the kids. That's when I realized I needed to educate myself on how to empower all of my children on how to avoid or stop any potentially unsafe situation from unfolding.

I was never taught body safety, how to establish boundaries, enforce them, what consent meant or that I had rights over my own body- so how could I teach my child? This is what led me on this empowering path- the fierce desire to protect my kids.

I also realized that the distinction between OVERprotecting my kids VS empowering my kids was an important one. Overprotecting without teaching them tools and skills was not going to help them as they grew older and went off into the world. This is why About Consent was born.

Although there are great resources out there to help parents teach this important information, I could not find any programs or guides to help parents who are survivors, to navigate these very triggering conversations; particularly for survivors who have not healed, or have not shared their story with anyone.

The layers of trauma for a survivor parent are ever more exposed when dealing with these sensitive topics.

My journey has been triggering, YET, also very empowering. With the tools and lessons I have taught my kids, I'm proud to say my children are very consent empowered. They continue to learn each and every day through open communication, modeling and interaction.

I believe that consent education custom tailored for survivor parents is critically important in teaching this information so that it can be as effective as possible. Teaching this material can also be much less triggering when you are guided and supported in your journey. This is the type of program I wish I had had when I started teaching my kids years ago. It's never too late to start and I can show you how. Let's do this!
